Wealth of Health

Debbie Clawson

Nearly 400 USD 247 community members attended our health fair at Southeast Thursday evening. Attendees learned to use pedometers and walk around the track, received fluoride treatments, blood pressure checks, bone density scans, body fat scans, crawled through a foggy hallway wearing fire equipment, and experienced a five-mile-per-hour impact in the KS Highway Patrol’s Seatbelt Convincer plus much more!

The USD 247 District Health Council thanks the Coordinated School Health Program, plus the following participants: Kansas Highway Patrol, Crawford County Sheriff’s department, Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center, Labette Community College, Karen McGown, Access Medical, the Cherokee City Fire Department, Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas, the Community Health Center Dental Clinic, K-State Extension, Martha Murphy, Tailwinds Cycle, the Scoliosis support group, the Kansas Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired, SEK-CAP Head Start, Nikki Davidson, Walmart, Jock’s Nitch, Girlfriends, Body Walk, 1st Edition, and all the participants!

The large attendance reflects the great community support our district shows to activities at our schools. Thanks to each of you who attended, and especially parents who took the time to bring your families to this event!
