Football Team Celebrates Season
The CCCJL 2008 football champions and parents got together Tuesday, November 18, to celebrate their undefeated season. We had a dinner and then watched a highlight film made by Bryce Burdette. Josh Thompson then read a speech that the captains had written:
"As you know, the Southeast Junior High Lancers went 7-0 this year. The successful season earned them the CCCJL Championship for the first time since three schools became a unified school district in 1979. It wasn’t exactly an easy task but because of dedication, hard work, and perseverance from the players and coaches, it was a successful season.
You might ask, what made us a winning football team? Players, coaches, and parents all knew from day 1 that we had to stick together and play as a team to accomplish our goals. The coaches were willing to teach the players to practice hard, be aggressive, and never give up!!! Thank you Coach Bowman, Coach Cheney, and Coach Dainty. The parents transported us to and from practice, made sure our uniform was ready before every game, supported us, and convinced us that we could accomplish anything we put our minds to. Thank you Parents!!! Also thanks to all the bus drivers, fans, and staff who prepared the field, the concession stand, and transported us to our games and practices.
We hope as freshman next year we continue to keep our winning streak alive and as Coach Cheney always said, “ Make something happen, something bad or something good ”
