On Monday, October 8 Southeast students went to the Renaissance Festival near Bonner Springs, Kansas. The Renaissance Festival is an opportunity for students to step back in time to get a taste of what life was like during the Renaissance, a historical period roughly from 1300-1600.
The festival includes people in period costumes, such as kings, queens, and knights. There is joisting, magic shows, and lots of music from that time in history. There are opportunities to learn about the Renaissance from the many performers there, as well.
“We used to go to the Renaissance Festival every year,” said teacher Gary Leiker. “We stopped going a few years ago, but I recently discovered some pictures of past students at the Renaissance Festival and I decided I wanted to take students again. It’s a fun, educational experience I hope many more students will get to enjoy in future years.”
