Cherokee PTO Minutes – October 2013

CHEROKEE PTO MINUTES
October 1st, 2013

Present were Colleen Lacher, Missy Baert, Rebecca Smith, Katie Locke, Suzanne Renn, Elaine Humble, and Karla Williams.

Meeting was called to order at 6:04 p.m.

September minutes were read by Suzanne Renn. Colleen made a motion to approve the minutes as read and Katie seconded.

Treasurer’s report was given by Elaine Humble.
Beginning balance on Sept. 1st was $5811.51.
Ending balance on Sept 30th was $7307.02.

Committee Reports-New Business
T-Shirt: Order was placed on Sept. 20th and will take 10-14 days to complete order. Suzanne will notify everyone when they are in and can make arrangements for pick up and sorting for delivery to students at that time.
School Directory: Suzanne has completed the directory and will contact Mr. Martin regarding printing and delivery to students. By putting the form in the enrollment packet the entries have increased this year.
Boxtops: No report
Parent/Teacher Conferences: Rebecca will order 10 pizza’s from Pizza Hut and deliver to school on Mon. 10-21-13. Suzanne will place the order for sandwiches at Ron’s and Elaine will pick up and deliver to school on Tues. 10-22-13. We will be picking up food for Jr. High teachers as well and then be reimbursed for half of the order.
Fall Festival: October 17th, 2013 5:30-7:00

9 Weeks Party: The teacher’s will purchase treats and be reimbursed by PTO.

Old Business:
Rebecca is creating an invitation to parents to get more involvement.
Send a note home with parents to save boxtops and labels.
Donate $2 per child K-3 to go to Hickory Farms Pumpkin Patch.
New Business:
A picnic table has been destroyed near the playground and will attempt to replace this. Rebecca will contact the High School Woodshop Instructor in regards to building one. Missy will contact Poly Tron in regards to donating one.
Rebecca made a motion to reimburse Suzanne $373.74 for purchasing items from Oriental Trading for Fall Festival. Katie seconded.
Rebecca will contact Home Depot to donate 2 mums and 5 pumpkins for Fall Festival. She will also contact the bowling alley to use 10 pins for pumpkin bowling.
Katie will contact Naked Fruit Co. in regards to donating apples for the Fall Festival and letting them know we plan on doing their fundraiser this spring.
Suzanne will create a letter to send home to parents regarding Fall Festival and to donate cakes and pop for the games.
Will ask teachers to pick a game to assist with and then will contact parents to volunteer where help is still needed.

Rebecca made a motion to adjourn meeting at 6:50 p.m. Suzanne seconded.
