By: Madison Thompson, Ag Leadership and Communication Student
On Wednesday, September 17th our FFA Entomology B Team competed in the district CDE held in Eureka, KS. A Career Development Event helps students develop their abilities to think critically, communicate clearly, and perform effectively in a competitive job market.
We had four Freshman compete as a “B” Team, which consists of Freshman and Sophomores only. Those who competed were, Alli Markley, Cady Lloyd, John Jameson, and Devon Guison. The team came home with 5th place honors in the district, which features twenty-four total schools.
The Chapter’s next Career Development Event will be the District Green-hand Conference held in Ferdonia, Kansas on September 25th. The Green-hand Conference is for first year FFA members and they will compete in the FFA Information Test, Creed Speaking and Spell Down competitions.
Sixteen total Freshman will attend the contest, all of which will compete in the FFA Information Test with the highest scoring individual from each Chapter getting to participate in the Spell Down competition.
Only two students from each chapter are allowed to compete in the Creed Speaking Contest. Representing Southeast FFA in the Creed Contest will be Daisy Burns and Jacob McGuire.
Results will be available early next week.
