UPDATED OCTOBER 23, 2014
We have learned the original council member from the City of McCune will not be able to attend tonight’s Special Board Meeting. However, McCune City Clerk confirmed a representative from the city is still expected to attend the meeting and address the board regarding a possible lease for the McCune campus.
ORIGINAL NEWS RELEASE:
A Special Meeting has been called for this Thursday for the USD 247 Southeast Board of Education. A council member from the City of McCune has requested to speak with school board members regarding a possible lease agreement for the school campus there.
The USD 247 Board of Education has offered to lease the campus to the City of McCune for $1 per year but a letter submitted to the city provided no other details.
McCune City Council member Cherie Schenker is on Thursday’s agenda to speak with the school board.
“The letter from the school board to the City of McCune was an invitation to work together on a lease agreement,” says Wilson. “The only detail provided was the cost because that was a question board members were frequently being asked. All other details would be worked out by representatives from the school board and the City of McCune. Hopefully the meeting on Thursday will be a step forward in that process.”
The Special Meeting is scheduled to be held at the USD 247 Board Office on Thursday, October 23 at 5:30 p.m.
