Southeast Elementary PTO Minutes – November 2014
SOUTHEAST ELEMENTARY PTO MINUTES
November 4, 2014
The meeting was opened at 6:05p.m.
Present were Dr. Smith, Ron Yancy, David Strickland, Dorothy Smith, Suzanne Renn, Katie Locke, Tammie Hall, Wendy Winters, Kathy Spahn, Elaine Humble, Whitney McCready, and Audrey Dietz.
Dr. Smith is working with the district on finding a new Superintendent and spoke to the group regarding the search and was open for suggestions anyone would like to recommend. Individuals were given the opportunity to speak about what characteristics they feel would make a good fit for the district.
October minutes were read by Suzanne Renn. Dorothy made a motion to approve the minutes and Elaine seconded.
Treasurer’s report was given by Elaine Humble.
Beginning balance-$8,706.41
Ending balance-$8,331.65
Suzanne made a motion to approve and Katie seconded.
OLD BUSINESS
- School Carnival-November 13th, 2014
- PTO will sell food; cinnamon rolls, chili, hotdogs, chips and drinks.
- Combo meal; hotdog, drink and chips $2.00
- Cinnamon rolls $1.00
- Nachos $1.50
- Separately sold; hotdog $1, drinks $1, chips $0.50
- Katie will make signs food and price list
- 8-10 CAP volunteers to help with food and games
- Katie will create a volunteer list
- Dorothy will purchase food
- PTO will sell food; cinnamon rolls, chili, hotdogs, chips and drinks.
- Book Fair
- Dec 8-13th, 2014
- Katie will create volunteer schedule. Jackie Scott and Whitney McCready will assist with event.
- Photos with Santa will be done Tuesday 6-7:30p.m.
- Cookies and drinks will be served.

NEW BUSINESS
- Dorothy made a motion to reimburse Carol Denham $16.20 for box top postage. Suzanne seconded.
- Elaine made a motion for payment to the Carnival Fund for $390.00 for reimbursement for the Pumpkin Patch.
- PTO Goals
- SHS scholarships. Suzanne will contact Kaci Coots regarding applications for seniors to apply for scholarship. Then will discuss amount and number of scholarships to give out. Possible to have one boy and one girl. Was discussed to have seniors submit an essay and then PTO choose the winners. Will ask Kaci if it is better to give fewer large amounts or smaller amount scholarships.
- Discussed in the past, the 3 separate PTO’s each had different criteria for selecting recipients and will need to comprise on one set of guidelines and create bylaws to follow for the upcoming years.
- Teachers thanked the PTO for providing food at Parent Teachers Conferences.
- Tammie will contact Chris Wilson to have the book fair put on the RED schedule
- Dorothy made a motion to skip the December meeting and to have the next meeting on January 6, 2015. Katie seconded.
Suzanne made a motion to adjourn meeting and Dorothy seconded. Meeting adjourned at 7:05p.m.
