Fever policy plus tips for staying healthy during cold and flu season
Non-bacterial meningitis has been confirmed at a nearby school district. While no cases of this common strain that is frequently treated in our region have been reported at USD 247, Nurse Susan Bole is using this time to remind families to be extra vigilant as we approach cold and flu season.
Students with a fever of 100.0 or above are not allowed at school. Students with a fever of 99.6 or higher will not be allowed at school if they have any other symptoms.
Help prevent illnesses in your home with these tips from the CDC:
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick, including hugs, and sharing cups or eating utensils.
- Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or upper shirt sleeve – NOT YOUR HANDS.
- Wash your hand frequently with soap and water, especially after using the toilet, coughing, or blowing your nose.
- Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces such as toys and doorknobs, especially if someone is sick.
- REPEAT – Stay home when you are sick!
