PTO Minutes April 5, 2016
Present: Elaine Humble, Katie Locke, Dorothy Smith, Tammie Hall, Beckie Martin.
Dorothy called the meeting to order at 6:10.
Katie read March 2016 minutes, Dorothy moved to approve and Mrs. Martin seconded.
Treasurer’s report was read by Elaine. Ending balance $10,044.39. Savings balance $3,002.11, but Elaine is going to move Pennies for PTO profit to savings to reserve for playground. Katie moved to approve the report and Dorothy seconded.
Old Business
- Playground – Changes approved from Kansas City. Rock will come out this summer, then lay wood chip material, take down the border and install three new pieces. Hopefully will also install new shade apparatus.
- Flower bed maintenance – See if any classes would like to maintain now that Geraldine has retired.
- Seuss Day – PTO spent $200. It is possible some money will be given back.
New Business
- $1,558.28 total collected for Pennies for PTO. Pre-K was highest-collecting class and will have an ice cream party. PTO will purchase supplies and let class decide when to have party.
- Summer movie tickets- Elaine will check if this program will happen.
- Bright Futures – meeting for updates. Question posed how this can be better utilized. Hall stated community meets most smaller needs. We feel Bright Futures needs clearer goals.
- Scholarship application essays read and two applicants chosen.
- Field trip money discussed. Elaine moved to give $2 per student for use in field trips, treats, end-of-year parties, classroom activities, etc., as determined by each teacher. Dorothy seconded. 4th grade will get an extra treat in place of pumpkin patch.
Katie made a motion to adjourn and Elaine seconded.
