Shoe Day at Southeast Elementary School
September 22, 2016 was Shoe Day at Southeast Elementary School. For the past several years, Weir High School graduate Wayne Kennedy has returned to the school he grew up at with his family. The Kennedy family donates shoes to every student at Southeast Elementary.
Despite living away from the area for decades, Mr. Kennedy says he was inspired to give back to his hometown as a way to give back and encourage others to do the same. In his words, he is “glad to encourage”.
The students and staff of SES would like to thank Mr. Kennedy, his wife Bette, and their family for once again being so gracious. We would also like to thank the following local news reporters for helping us share this inspiring story:
- Kheslleen Dimanche of KSN 16 – Shoe donation from former graduate
- Michael Stavola of the Pittsburg Morning Sun –
- Colleen Williamson of the Parsons Sun – Family gives shoes to entire school
