Kendyl Renn and Zayne Gabern are All-League medalists; Jackie and Sandra Robinson both ran season bests and looked strong doing it; Henry Burns continues to get better each race, as he ran his fourth season best; Kayden Utley finished his first 5K ever; AJ Gray started in on the season a month ago and ran a career best by over a minute; and the boys team finished third behind pack-running Jayhawk Linn by only 4 points (Central 10, Jayhawk Linn 43, Southeast 47).
“This race helps set me up for Regionals because I know I can start out at a faster pace than what I have in the last few races, since I had my first mile at a 7:20. I just need to work harder at practice this next week so I can stick with it longer and not be as worn out in the second or third mile.” Journee Rimmer, sophomore
“I thought today’s race went well, and we all ran well. Rumor has it the course was slightly further than usual, so I’m very excited to see what we can do at Regionals next week.” Tucker Sutton, freshman
“The runners should be really happy with their performances today. They’ve been working hard, and with the tapering next week, they’re going to be ready to fly at Regionals. They’ve been incredibly consistent in practices and races, so while it’s not going to be easy next week, I have no doubt they’re going to take care of business as usual.” Coach Julie Jones
Thank you to those who helped make it a successful meet!
The next action for the Lancer Cross Country team is Regionals, held in Richmond, KS, on Oct. 26th. The girls race will begin at 10am, followed by the boy at 11:10am.
Good Luck at Regionals!
