The Southeast Cross Country team traveled to Central Heights for Regionals on 10/26. Most of the Lancer runners walked away with a career best or season best time and two Lancer runners qualified for State!

“Even though I didn’t make it to State, I still ran a career PR, which encourages me for my senior season.” Kendyl Renn, Junior 

“I’ve always had the goal to beat Zayne. I thought of it as the last race of the season cause I wasn’t sure what place I was in.” Tucker Sutton, Freshman

“I got off to a pretty late start. I wanted to be faster than last year, if that was possible. Since there was not guarantee for a next race, I wanted to go all out.” Henry Burns, Sophomore

“Everyone did their job today. They ran their best, put themselves in the position they needed to. Unfortunately, even with your best effort sometimes, you don’t get the ending you want.” Coach Jones

“In that boy’s race, after our 7th runner finished, I was checking times, and my smile kept growing. I understand the disappointment of not qualifying, but I can’t find it in myself to be upset when I saw every single runner give everything they had.” Coach Jones

Zayne Gabern and Tucker Sutton will be competing at the 2A State Cross Country meet in Wamego on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Wamego Country Club (1900 Country Club Drive, Wamego, KS). The race will begin at 11:45am. Admission is $10, and parking is across the street for free. There is a high chance of rain that day, so come prepared!
