CHEROKEE – During a public hearing, held during a special Board of Education meeting on December 16, 2025, the Board approved a resolution to permanently close the 1916 Main Building on the Southeast Elementary School campus, effective at the conclusion of the 2025-2026 school year.

At this time, the current grade configuration will remain unchanged. Moving forward, the Board will begin a more detailed review of the potential reconfiguration options that have previously been presented. The administrative team is actively evaluating these options to determine feasibility, operational needs, and associated costs. It is anticipated that the Board will hold one or more work sessions to more thoroughly examine these options before making any decisions regarding future configuration.
