Southeast TSA places 1st; qualifies for Nationals

Southeast High School Technology Student Association recently sent 4 students to Salina, Kansas to compete in the Kansas TSA State Conference. The students that attended the conference were Nick Junior-Galindo, Ryan Thomas, Bryce Blockburger, and Caleb Thompson.

The group from SHS placed 1st in the state in Digital Video Production. TSA rules required that the students created a documentary for this year’s contest. Nick, Ryan, Bryce, and Caleb interviewed several lifelong residents and USD 247 employees from Cherokee, McCune, Weir, and West Mineral. The students used the footage to create a documentary about the history of the USD 247 district that is titled “God is a Lancer Fan.”

The same group of students from Southeast also finished in 1st place in On Demand Video competition at the Kansas TSA State Conference. For this video, students receive a topic when they arrive at the conference and must plan, film, edit, and produce a video within 24 hours.

By placing 1st in these two events, this group has qualified to compete in the 2014 Technology Student Association National Conference in Washington, D.C. The students are currently raising money to be able to go on the trip. If you are interested in donating to this cause please contact Mr. Coots at Southeast High School at 620-457-8365.
