Southeast Volleyball to play in State on Otober 31 in Emporia

The third and deciding game of the Sub State Championship on Saturday did not start well for the Southeast Lancers. Southeast won game won, Erie won game two, then Erie took an 8-1 lead in game 3.
“We need to get our serve receive pass so we can set our front row and put the ball down,” Southeast Coach Maya White said afterward. “When we caught up 20-20 the girls really pushed hard to win. Kalyn Bitner had a kill and a couple of blocks, and at 24-20 Olivia Powell was set a back row attack and got a kill to win the game.”
Southeast is now 19-19 and as Sub State Champions they will participate in the State Tournament on October 31 in Emporia. Click to see the bracket (PDF)
“I am so proud of these girls,” said Coach White. “They played so well, we had so many of them step up at different times and at clutch times tonight. We have been talking about this night for a long time. The girls really got mentally prepared for tonight. They did a great job. We are very pumped for State and we are hoping our momentum will be taking us forward @ State.”
Southeast started the day in Riverton beating Cherryvale, 25-15 and 25-13. Olivia Powell had 6 digs and 5 kills. Kalyn Bitner had 2 blocks and 5 kills. Bailee Ulery had 2 blocks. Madison Bone had 20 assists.
During the semi-finals against Neodesha, Southeast dropped the first game, 16-25, then won 25-20 and 25-21. Olivia Powell had 11 kills, 9 digs, and 2 assisted blocks. Madison Bone had 4 assisted blocks, 1 Solo and 22 assists. Maggie Renn had 2 assisted blocks and 1 solo and 5 kills. Katie Yancey 6 kills Kalyn Bitner had 6 kills and 4 assisted blocks. Kelsie Westervelt had 6 digs.
In the Finals against the #1 seed Erie, Southeast won 25-22, lost 21-25, then won 25-20. Olivia Powell had 21 kills, 6 digs. Madison Bone had 5 kills and 29 assists. Kalyn Bitner had 6 kills and 2 solo and 3 assisted blocks. Bailee Ulery had 2 assisted blocks and 8 digs. Maggie Renn had 6 kills. Kelsie Westervelt had 6 digs.
