Southeast High School students met in the school’s auditorium Friday afternoon for the announcement that senior Madison Bone had signed to play volleyball at Labette Community College.
“It is an exciting day for Madison, I know she had to think hard on what school she was going to go to,” said Southeast High School Volleyball Coach Maya White. “I’m glad she made a decision that she is excited about and Labette will be a good fit for her.”
A team captain this season, over the past two years Madison made 940 assists, was named All-CNC Honorable Mention twice, and set two school records – for assists in a match and assists in a dual.
Southeast Lancer Athletic Director Frank Pittman said he was very proud to have Madison as a part of the Lancer Volleyball tradition.
“I think this is a very important moment for one of our student-athletes and also for her family,” Pittman said. “It’s very rewarding anytime you see one of our student-athletes take that next step forward in her life and in her career.”
“We’re very proud of her,” said Coach White. “I know that she’s made her community, her school and her family very very proud and we’re excited to see what she does in the next two years and who knows what else after that.”
Madison plans to be a veterinarian.
