The Lancers have their final three representatives at this year’s Crawford County Spelling Bee, which will be hosted by Southeast on Thursday February 5 at Southeast High School. Southeast Junior High School held it’s school spelling bee on Tuesday with Elizabeth Scott of Scammon taking 1st Place, Brayden Hale of Cherokee placing 2nd, and Eli Newport of Pittsburg placing 3rd.
Last week the Spelling Bee was held at Southeast Elementary School. Brandon Burns of McCune took 1st Place, Lane Jameson of Cherokee took 2nd Place and Lily Webster of Weir took 3rd Place.
Representing the 5th Grade at Tuesday’s Southeast Junior High Spelling Bee were William Best of Scammon, Katy Coble of Scammon and Hailee Green of Weir. Representing the 6th Grade were Hale and Jace Coltrane of Cherokee. Representing the 7th grade were Katie Bitner of Cherokee, Scott and Zach Smith of Cherokee. Representing the 8th grade were: Jaret Brumback of McCune, Newport and Daria Stricklin of Weir. Sixth grader Gracie Martin of Weir was unable to participate due to an illness.
