Freshmen Ag Science students learning to weld

The Freshmen Agriculture Science students have been learning to to MIG (Metal Inert Gas) weld at Southeast High School.

“Freshman Ag Science students are given the opportunity to learn the basics of Oxy-actylene torch cutting, MIG (wire) welding and SMAW (stick) welding the last several weeks of school,” says teacher Scott Sutton.

Students who wish to continue the Agricultural Power (shop) pathway can enroll in Agriculture Mechanics their Sophomore year. Sutton said Agricultural Mechanics is a 20% classroom, 80% shop class.
