Wednesday was moving day for Mr. Daniel Renn at the Southeast Elementary School. Mr. Renn was moved from the modular building brought to the Weir campus last school year to the just finished tornado safe room with the help of Brent Imhof, Adam Wells, and several Southeast Civil Air Patrol members – Taylor Beckley, Lilly Chrysler, Matthew Fleck, Mattie Haynes, Summer Myers, Emily Wycough and commander Rick Grotheer.
Mr. Renn said he is looking forward to having quite a bit more space.
“We’ll have more room for the kids to spread out whenever we do the songs there are movements to,” Mr. Renn said. “We’ve marched around the carpet a lot.”
If your elementary student has been marching around and singing the past couple of days there is a reason for that. Southeast is working to involve more students in the parades at Cherokee Homecoming, Weir Homecoming and the McCune Fall Festival, and Mr. Renn is spearheading the effort at Southeast Elementary School.
All of the elementary students are being invited to represent the Southeast Elementary School Music Program at each of the parades. While Mr. Renn said the students are not obligated to go, he and school officials are hoping families take advantage of this opportunity to give back to the communities.
