Zoey Ball & Colton Paasch named 2016 SHS Basketball Homecoming Queen & King

Congratulations to senior Zoey Ball for being named the 2016 SHS Basketball Homecoming Queen, and Colton Paasch to being named Homecoming King.

Freshman Saydi Sullivan is the daughter of Jason and Emily Sullivan. She has three siblings, Sami, Jacob & Jude. Her school activities include KAYS, Student Council, Freshman Class President, HOSA, Volleyball and Track. She is also on the All-A Honor Roll. Saydi’s favorite class is Spanish. Her favorite teacher is Mr. Brad Coots. Saydi’s hobbies include club volleyball, hanging out with friends, watching Netflix, reading and playing table tennis. Saydi’s favorite thing about high school is being with her friends every day. Her future plans involve attending a university and becoming a physician.

Saydi’s escort is senior Chandler Jackson. Chandler is the son of Jim Jackson and Michelle Jackson Tridle. He has two siblings, Sailor & Abel. His school activities include Football, Basketball, Baseball and TSA. His athletic honors include, in football, 1st team Defense 2015; in Baseball, CNC honorable mention Outfielder 2015; and in Basketball, 2nd Team All League, 3A All State Honorable Mention, All Area 2nd Team 2015. Chandler’s favorite class is Pre-Calculus and his favorite teacher is Mr. Scott Butler. Chandler’s hobbies include hanging out with friends, hunting and listening to music. Chandler’s favorite thing about high school is being with his friends all day and preparing for his future. He plans on attending Pittsburg State University in the fall and majoring in Construction Management.

Sophomore Caitlin Low is the daughter of Cecil and Lisa Low. She has two siblings, Drake and Ariel. Her school activities include Yearbook, FBLA, Student Council, KAYS, FFA, HOSA, NHS, Volleyball, and she is a Spirit Shack employee. Her honors and awards include: Winner of the 2015 Youth Entrepreneurship Fair, 2016 FBLA State Qualifier, Sophomore Class Vice President, FBLA Historian Officer, KAYS Secretary, and NHS member. Her favorite class is Business, and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Cherie Witt. Hobbies include playing volleyball, fishing, photography and hanging out with friends. Caitlin’s favorite thing about high school is seeing her friends every day and going to athletic games. Caitlin plans to attend the University of Kansas after high school and pursue a career in the health field.

Caitlin’s escort is Senior Colton Paasch. Colton is the son of Mike and Carla Paasch. He has three siblings: Cameron Paasch, Courtney Tidball and Cody Covey. His school activities include Football, Basketball, FBLA and TSA. His honors and awards include: 1st Team All CNC linebacker, 2nd Team All County Linebacker, Lancer Pride, A/B and All A honor roll. Colton’s favorite class is Study Skills and his favorite teacher is Coach David Dainty. Colton’s hobbies include sports, listening to music and hanging out with friends. Colton’s favorite thing about high school is the teachers and the Class of 2016. His plans after graduation are to continue playing football and get a good education.

Junior Lena Reuter is the daughter of Petra and Heinrich Reuter of Paderborn, Germany. Her host parents are Janet and Mike Gordon. Lena’s siblings are Sabrina and Ramona Reuter; and host family siblings are Miri and Mireesa Gordon and Shane Underwood. Her school activities are FBLA, FCCLA, Cheer Squad and Track. Lena’s favorite class is Art, and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Melanie Evitts. Lena’s hobbies include ballet and making new friends. Lena’s favorite thing about high school is that you get to meet new people and gain fun experiences. Lena’s future plans include going to college in Germany and traveling the world.

Lena’s escort is senior Devin Gideon. His parents are mother Danna Daniel, Step-Father John Daniel and Father Steve Gideon. Devin has one brother, Logan Gideon. His school activities include Football, Basketball and Baseball. His honors and awards include being a member of National Honor Society. His favorite class is Construction, and his favorite teacher is Mr. Pierson. Devin’s hobbies include hanging out with friends and working. And, he is currently working very hard trying not to injure himself any more than he already has in high school. Devin’s favorite things about high school are his friends and the teachers. His future plans include finishing the Construction Trades Associate Degree Program at Coffeyville or possibly go to Hesston College to play baseball and work towards a Disaster Management Degree. He would then transfer to Pittsburg State University for a Construction Management Degree.

The senior candidate is Zoey Ball. Her parents are Doug and Jamie Ball, and her mother is Dody Riley. Zoey has three siblings; sister Kricket Sprouls and brothers Cody and Ryan Rakestraw. Her activities include FBLA, STUCO, FFA, TSA, NHS, SAFE, and KAYS. She is also Spirit Shack Manager and plays softball. Her honors and awards include Student Council President, FBLA Vice President, FBLA four-time State Qualifier, and NHS Treasurer. Her favorite class is Business and her favorite teacher is Mrs. Cherie Witt. Zoey’s hobbies include singing and hunting. Her favorite thing about high school is creating lifetime memories with her peers and teachers. Her plan after graduation is to pursue a Business Marketing Degree at Pittsburg State University.

Zoey’s escort is Caleb Thompson. Caleb is the son of John and Debbie Thompson. He has three siblings, Jake, Josh and Anna. Caleb has been a four year member of TSA, FFA, Basketball and Baseball. He has been a member of KAYS for 3 years. His honors and awards include Kansas Honor Scholar, Kansas State Moderator of Christian Youth, and All-A Honor Roll and Lancer Pride for four years. Caleb is also a two-time State Champion in Digital Video Production. Caleb’s favorite class is Video, and his favorite teacher is Mr. Brad Coots. Caleb’s hobbies include hanging out with friends, working with his Grandpa, and being actively involved at church. Caleb feels the best thing about high school is getting to see his friends every day, the dedicated teachers, and the Senior class. His plans after graduation include attending Pittsburg State University to pursue a degree in technology or education.

Crowning this year’s Royalty will be the 2015 Basketball Queen and King, Megan Gall and Ryan Rakestraw.

Megan is the daughter of Michael Gall and Sunny Speer. She has one brother, Jett Gall. Megan is currently attending Wichita State University as a biology major, with minors in chemistry and anthropology. Her hobbies include spending time with her sorority sisters, reading and doing homework. Her future plan is to attend medical school to pursue a career in forensic pathology.

Ryan is the son of Jamie Ball and Tim Rakestraw. He has two siblings, Zoey Ball and Cody Rakestraw. Ryan will be continuing to play football at Pittsburg State University, while earning a degree in Construction Engineering Technology. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, golf and sports. After college, Ryan would like to work in a management position for a construction company.
Assisting Megan and Ryan are crown and gift bearers Elena White and Gannon Hobbs.

Elena is the daughter of John and Maya White. She is a kindergarten student at Southeast Elementary and has two siblings, Eliz and Xavier. Elane’s school activities include drawing, music, P.E. and recess. Her favorite teacher is Mrs. Cara Kubler, and the thing Elana likes most about Kindergarten is when she gets to do her jobs for class. When Elena was asked what her future plans were, she said, “I would like to be a Queen”.

Gannon is the son of Philip and Ashley Hobbs. He has two brothers, Austin and Andrew. Gannon is active in Mini Lancer football and his hobbies include building with LEGO’s and swimming. Gannon’s favorite class is Kindergarten and his favorite teacher is Mrs. Colleen Lacher. Gannon’s favorite thing about school is getting to go to recess – because that’s the fun part. When Gannon grows up he would like to be a Police Officer.
