It’s official. Congratulations to Colton Paasch, Caleb Thompson and Caleb Fenimore for taking 5th place in the nation for Digital Video Production at the TSA National conference in Nashville.
This year’s topic in Digital Video Production was on social media bullying and their video previously won state, the 3rd time in a row for Thompson, who was also a member of the SHS team that took 7th place at Nationals in 2013-14. Also representing Southeast at the TSA Nationals were Jake Burns, Bryson Spahn and Kyler Spahn.
On a side note, Thompson and Bryson Spahn graduated from SHS this past May and both are working for area tech-help desks this summer: Thompson for Gorilla Geeks at PSU and Spahn for Craw-Kan Telephone.
With one group of students still to participate at a national event, the team of Paasch, Thompson and Fenimore is the only to reach the finals so far, but Southeast has been represented very well at Nationals this year and students have been able to tour some of the nation’s largest cities.
At the time of this writing, Will Chrysler and Courtney Ross are in San Diego, California for the FCCLA Nationals through July 7; and, returning from a trip to Washington D.C. are Southeast band members Morgan Leeper, Taylor Stanley and Madison Westervelt. These three young ladies performed in the National Independence Day Parade with the Mid America All Star Marching Band through PSU and marched in the National Independence Day, and witnessed a Laying of the Wreath ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Previously, Chrysler was in Salt Lake City with Ashleigh Fleck and Sarah Goins for the National Speech & Debate Tournament; Sydney Nippoldt was in Nashville for Future Health Professionals (Caitlin Low also qualified but was unable to go); and, Zoey Ball, Daisy Burns, Sarah Clausen, Megan Colvin, Wyntr Jacobs, Caitlin Low, Peyton Simpson, Kyra Stewart and Hannah Williams were in Atlanta for FBLA.
