Career Day at Southeast Elementary

Participants showing off what they do in the workforce for the 2nd annual Career Day at Southeast Elementary were asked what they use Reading and Math for.

Responses included taking and making orders, writing speeches and letter, mixing recipes, measuring and pricing items, but the same skills were mentioned by several participants: being able to research, data collection and analysis, and the ability to give change for purchases quickly and accurately.

The Career Day was held at Southeast Elementary School on Friday, April 28, 2017.

Thank you to the following organizations for bringing representatives to Friday’s Career Day: Cake Shed of rural Cherokee, Kansas, Cherokee County EMT, Cherokee County Health Department, Columbus Farmer’s COOP, Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas Dental, Crossland Construction, Davis Real Estate, EH Consulting, Empire District Electric, Greenbush, International Junior Miss Kansas Shannon McLachlan with Monarch Formals of Pittsburg, KOAM-TV, the Pittsburg State University Biology Department, Sonic Drive In of Pittsburg, Tropical Snow of Oswego, the U.S. Army, the Weir Public Library, and Bud Andrews, Knute Farstvedt and Bob Simonsic for bringing their classic cars, as well as our own Southeast School District Nurse Susan Bole.
