The Southeast High School Parenting Class has been learning about the costs of parenting. Recently, Dacia White, USD 247 Parents as Teachers parent-educator spoke to the Parenting students. Parents As Teachers is a Greenbush-based early learning program for parents of young children, prenatal to age three. The Parenting students will continue to learn about local resources for parents throughout this class. The six students created an informational display to share with other Southeast students and patrons that demonstrated the cost of diapers. They designed “diaper cakes”. Each of these cakes were displayed during lunchtime and the rest of the student body, faculty, and staff could cast their vote for their favorite design. Students participating in this were: Alyssa Zimmerman, Annabelle Turpen, Jaret Brumback, Jordie Higgins, Kylie Myers, and Brianna Hunt. The diapers are being donated to the Crawford County Diaper Bank, a new program started by Parents as Teachers to donate diapers to families in need of financial assistance.
