Southeast Elementary Receives Grant

On Thursday afternoon Southeast Elementary principal Tammy Hall
accepted a grant from the local Neighborhood Walmart in the sum of
$2,000. The Walmart Community Grant offers eight areas of funding for
which an organization can apply.

USD 247 applied under the environmental sustainability category with
plans to use funds towards two filtered water stations at the Elementary. By
accepting this grant, we are trying to encourage students to drink more
water and promoting environmental awareness by using refillable water

Dr. Miner, Mrs. Clawson, and Mrs. Hall took it a step further, deciding to pay
a visit to the local Neighborhood Market and personally thank the
individuals who helped make the grant possible. The three administrators
were able to speak with store manager, Phil Vankirk, and had a check
presented to them by the assistant manager, Nilda Allen (pictured below).
Dr. Miner expressed his gratitude by adding,” I would like to extend a
sincere thank you to our local Walmart Neighborhood Market for selecting
us for this grant. Community partnerships play a key role in supporting our
students and Walmart has always been supportive of our district.”
Once the check had been presented, Miner, Clawson, and Hall decided to
shop for a few administrative supplies, displaying further loyalty to the
Walmart brand.
