This semester freshmen and sophomore students were offered a piano lab class at the high school. Students were surveyed at the end of the first semester to see if there was any interest. Many students expressed enthusiasm, and the budget allowed for six keyboards to be purchased. Rachel Trezona, who also teaches 10th and 11th grade English, is certified to teach PreK-12 Music. She says, “I am so excited to get the opportunity to teach this class; it is a class I’ve always dreamed of teaching. I am so thankful Mr. Malle found a way to make this possible. I think the students are having fun too.” Mrs. Trezona has applied for a grant to add two more keyboards to the class, but has not heard anything back yet. The piano students are currently working on one classical piece and one “fun” piece for a recital later in the semester. “I am so proud of their hard work and the progress they are making,” Mrs. Trezona states.
