The Lancers showed up in a big way at the bus races this past Saturday. To start the evening off, the Lancer fans gave a lesson in school spirit by taking first place in the spirit competition. Soon after that it was announced that Southeast had also won the bus pull and the high school chariot races. In the junior high division of the chariot races, Southeast also clinched a second place.
Driver Ken Snyder once again put on a show by dominating each bus race he participated in. He seemed to win both heat races effortlessly and cruised to an easy victory in the modified feature race. After winning the feature race, Southeast fans joined him in the winners circle for pictures. Ken stated “I do this for the kids”!
The Superintendent’s Student Advisory Group made a decision last year to put the bus race winnings toward a new digital sign that can be used to advertise events for all three schools. It will take a few years to earn enough to purchase the sign but we certainly have a good start. A breakdown of the winnings is as follows:
Spirit Competition – $1000
Bus Pull Competition – $750
High School Chariot Races – $750
Junior High Chariot Races – $500
Two Heat Races – $100
1st Place Feature Race – $300
Participation and Registration – $100
Grand Total – $3500
