USD 247 school board members are all parents.  Most are parents of current or past students and some even graduated from Southeast themselves.  They ALL volunteer their time.  With no expectations of anything in return, they faithfully prepare for and attend meetings on a monthly basis, and sometimes more often, to guide and direct our district on a path that puts the students first.

Too often we forget about the personal sacrifices school board members make.  They spend hundreds of hours serving our schools.  They research, study, and discuss issues so they can make informed decisions.  They read reports and attend specialized professional development to stay on top of education issues and trends.  They do this because they are part of the community.  If you’ve ever sat down with one of them and had a conversation, you would hear and feel the genuine interest in making our district the best it can possibly be.  They are true advocates for the success of every student.

January is School Board Appreciation month.  USD 247 would like to start the new decade by saying, “thank you” to our tireless, fearless, caring school board members!

Board members include David Stricklin, Sundown Jacobs, Ron Yancey, Jessica Wells, John Staton, and Trista Shuster.  Also, please welcome our newest member, Jenna Pritchett, who will be filling the position held by Sundown Jacobs, starting January 13.
