Update to Lancer Families
March 19, 2020
Dear Lancer Families,
We hope that you and your family have stayed healthy this week. Our priority at USD 247 is the safety and health of students and staff which required us to be closed this week.
The purpose of this message today is to give you an update on what we have planned going forward in regards to education for the remainder of the school year. We do caution that this is a constantly changing situation and we will continue to adapt as the situation evolves.
Next week is spring break and we will observe that week as scheduled. The teachers will report back during the week following spring break and will work to create a continuing learning plan using guidance from the state.
This learning plan will in no way replicate the instruction we could provide in a natural setting but it will attempt to provide students with instruction. The details of this plan will be released sometime during the week of March 30th.
For now we ask that you be patient with us as we formulate these plans. Teachers should be contacting you to get an inventory of your technology capabilities at home. If you have not returned their call please do so or call the Board Office so we can better prepare a plan going forward for your student.
We have received many questions regarding student belongings at the school, field trips, prom, commencement exercises, etc. At this time we are not opening the building for students to get belongings. Our hope is to allow that in early April once we have finalized our learning plan. All activities have been canceled or postponed at this time in order to follow guidance of the health department and the Center for Disease Control. Please know that information changes rapidly and we will update you as new information arrives.
Yours in Education,
USD 247 Administrative Team
