Today, May 1st, is School Lunch Hero Day. Southeast’s school nutrition staff strives to make lunchtime the favorite part of every student’s day. From their friendly greetings in the cafeteria and the love they dish out with every student’s meal, to how they encourage kids to eat more fruits and vegetables, our school nutrition professionals are truly heroes.
Between preparing healthy meals, adhering to strict nutrition standards, navigating student food allergies, and offering service with a smile, Southeast nutrition professionals have a lot on their plate. That is especially true during this time of school shutdowns where our food service professionals are getting up early to make sack lunches for student delivery or pick up.
School Lunch Hero Day gives schools and communities the opportunity to thank the school nutrition professionals who serve their students each day. Our lunch heroes are Mel Brennon, Gaye Clark, Amber Hale, Rosanna Ristau, Tammy Ritchie, Tammie Taylor, and their fearless leader, Connie Kimzey. Feel free to comment on the Facebook post and let these heroes know how much you appreciate them!
