Lancer Cross County State Bound!
Great News!- The Lancer Cross Country boys team wins 2A Regionals and is STATE BOUND!
Saturday morning the Lancer Boys Cross Country team made school history by becoming the first team to ever win a Regional Cross Country title. The Lancers ran well, beating out Colgan (2nd place) and 8 other schools to secure a 2A regional title and a ticket to the State Cross Country meet. The Lancers were led by Drake Guymon (4th place, 17:32), Matthew Fleck (7th, 17:58), and Easton Renn (10th, 18:33) all of whom are individual state qualifiers. Previously that week, the Lancers ran in the Three Rivers League meet where they became the Champions of that race as well (3rd year in a row). According to Coach Lawson, “The boys had big goals this year and in order to achieve them we had to put a plan in place. We had to run just right on Monday to put us in a position to win while keeping our legs in a place to be ready to go again on Saturday. That meant that every kid had to sacrifice running their “best efforts” and potentially placing higher in the league meet so that we could be ready to race our best on Saturday. Our boys did just that; they raced smart, for each other, and took care of business. I couldn’t be more proud of them!”
The Lancers will head to the State meet in Victoria, Kansas where they will race against 11 teams on Saturday morning at 9:30am.
