USD 247 and the Cherokee County Health Department RELEASE STATEMENT ON POSITIVE COVID-19 CASE
The USD 247 School District was notified by the Cherokee County Health Department on October 28, 2020 that one student at Southeast High School has tested positive for COVID-19. There were no direct contacts identified at school in this case.
Individuals who have tested positive for COVID-19 will isolate and not be present at school for a minimum of 10 days or until they have been released by their healthcare provider and the health department. In addition, students/staff who were in close contact, per the county health department guidelines, will need to be quarantined for 14 days.
As per our established protocol, we will thoroughly clean and disinfect the spaces in our building where the student was present. Mitigation efforts will be adjusted as recommendations from the Health Department are received. We are closely monitoring this situation and will provide you with updates as we know more.
