Recently, USD 247 was awarded two grants to assist in offsetting the cost of COVID related expenses. The first grant in the amount of $2000 was awarded from the Patterson Foundation. The Patterson Family Foundation is a family-led foundation extending the legacy of Neal and Jeanne Patterson through collaborations in health care, education and rural communities. In addition to the monetary grant, the Patterson Family Foundation will also be donating Personal Protective Equipment to the district. The second grant was awarded from the Disaster Relief Fund of Community Foundation of Southeast Kansas in the amount of $1000. These funds are to assist with COVID-19 relief efforts in schools. The grant was made possible by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas who offered a #AdAstraStrong campaign to recognize heroes working on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
