TRIO DAY Featuring Kendall Gammon
PARSONS – TRIO DAY was held November 2 at Labette Community College (LCC) where our TRIO participants and interested seniors had the opportunity to hear from motivational speaker and author Kendall Gammon. Kendall graduated from Pittsburg State University in 1991 where he was a member of the Gorillas football team for 5 years. He was captain for two years and anchored the 1991 National Championship Team. His 15 years in the NFL included the 1995 Super Bowl and the 2005 Pro Bowl. He now speaks all over the country and our students were fortunate to hear his message. Mr. Gammon communicated the importance of emotional strength, leadership, teamwork, goal setting, vulnerability, persistence, success, gratitude, giving back, and making a difference. His keynote provided powerful advice and meaningful support for our students.
Prior to the speaking engagement, students had the opportunity to attend the CPC College Fair hosted by LCC Admissions Department. College Fairs are time-saving events for students to gather a lot of information from a number of colleges, universities, vocational-technical schools and military services in one setting. Students were able to connect with and meet admissions representatives from 40 different colleges and discuss admissions requirements, financial aid, campus life, application and scholarship deadlines, majors, and student-faculty ratio.
