USD 247 Open Enrollment for the 2026-2027 School Year
CHEROKEE and WEIR – Kansas law requires schools to adjust their policy and procedures for accepting nonresident/out-of-district students. Students not residing in the district and wishing to attend the district must complete a Nonresident Enrollment Application by June 30, 2026.
Nonresident students enrolled during the 2025-26 school year will automatically be accepted unless they have been notified by school administration of no longer being in good standing. These students will not be required to complete an application for the 2026-27 school year.
The number of nonresident applicants approved will be based on the capacity of the district to accept these students. A random lottery will be conducted on or before July 15 to fill enrollment capacity slots.
