CHEROKEE – USD 247 Southeast wants to welcome the newest members of our Southeast Family. Here’s to a great 2026-2027 school year!

JUSTUS MITCHELL
English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher at Southeast High School

“I grew up and graduated from Carl Junction, Missouri. In 2023, I moved to Pittsburg, Kansas, and recently graduated with my bachelor’s in English Education as a first-generation college graduate. In my free time, I enjoy going for walks while listening to audiobooks, cooking with my girlfriend, and playing video games. I also enjoy collecting books, board games, and comic books. SHS is going to be my first teaching job, but I am incredibly excited to dive feet first and become a part of the community!” – Justus Mitchell

AIDAN BARTHOLOMEW
Agriculture Teacher at Southeast High School

“Hello Southeast Lancers! I am Aidan Bartholomew, your new Agriculture teacher and Future Farmers of America (FFA) sponsor.  My hometown is Erie, KS where I graduated high school.  After high school, I completed a year of courses from Allen Community College and finished my Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences and Industry from Kansas State University.  In addition to my major, I received minors in Ag Sales and Personal Financial Planning from K-State.  I am currently in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program at K-State and plan to graduate with my master’s degree in the spring of 2028.  Aside from school, I run my own show goat production business and assist with my family’s beef cattle operation.  I have lived on a farm my whole life and raised goats since I was 12.  Goat production was my Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) in high school and I even received a state grant for a watering system.  Being one of three finalists for the Kansas State Proficiency Award in Goat Production during my senior year was my greatest FFA achievement.  Agriculture has always been my passion, and I am excited to share that passion with others.  I hope my experiences and time in the classroom will inspire and positively impact today’s youth and future generations.” – Aidan Bartholomew
