Stay Connected to USD 247 – FOLLOW UP
CHEROKEE and WEIR – Parents or guardians of USD 247 students who are not receiving text messages from the school, but would like to, need to opt into receiving messages by texting (from your phone) “Yes” to the number 79041. If you need assistance in doing this or if you have questions, please contact the district office (620-457-8350) for help.
If you opted out the first time and have changed your mind, follow the instructions above. BrightArrow (our communication provider) is not allowed to resend an invitation to those who opted out the first time.
In a day or two, BrightArrow will send out a new opt in re-invitation message to those parents/guardians who didn’t respond at all the first time. When you don’t respond at all, BrightArrow is not allowed to continue sending you text messages. By contract with their SMS provider and in compliance with anti-spam laws, they are required to send our text messages on an “opt in” basis instead of an “opt out” option.
If you call the school and change your phone number, you will be asked to opt in by typing “Yes” to the opt in message, the next time a text is sent to you from the school. You will not automatically receive an invitation; however, you are more than welcome to type “Yes” to the number 79041 to be automatically added.
