Southeast High School’s Lancers Wrestling Team will take part in its first ever competition this Saturday, December 6, at Caney Valley High School. Other teams competing in the 41st Annual Kan-Okla Wrestling Classic are the host Caney Valley High School, Bartlesville (OK), Cherryvale, Coffeyville, Fredonia, Frontenac, Independence, Iola, Labette County, Mound City-Jayhawk Linn, Oologah (OK), Parsons, South Moore (OK), Uniontown, and Tecumseh-Shawnee Heights.
Organizers say this will be a pool tournament.
“This will allow us to get a maximum number of matches and still be able to give out the brackets and individual medals,” Caney Valley Athletic Director Criss Davis wrote in a letter to coaches. “If there are six or less in the bracket, it will be a normal round robin. If there are more than six, we will have two pools with the winners wrestling for 1st; 2nd place finishers in their pools will wrestle for 3rd, and so on. We will accept quality JV wrestlers to help fill brackets and get matches.”
Admission is $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for students. Wrestling begins at 9:00 a.m. There will be a 20 minute break for lunch and another short break before finals.
