Ulery to play volleyball for national power, Coffeyville

CHEROKEE, Kan. – Southeast senior Bailee Ulery has signed to play volleyball at Coffeyville Community College. This past season, Coffeyville finished their season 38-4, won the District M Championship, and took 8th place in the NJCAA DII Championship Tournament.

In a signing ceremony held at Southeast High School on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, Southeast Volleyball Coach Maya White talked about how she was excited to see Ulery move on to the collegiate level.

“I’m excited to see her continue to improve – I know she has a lot more room to grow as far as an athlete,” Southeast Volleyball Coach Maya White said at the signing ceremony. “Bailee has been a really great player to have. She is very coachable. No drama. She’s very competitive. She works and is pretty awesome to have around. I know she’ll do great at Coffeyville, both academically and athletically.”

“I picked Coffeyville because I’ve known Coach (Delice) Downing since I was a freshman in high school – she always did our camps,” Ulery said after the signing. “I always loved getting coached by her and getting the experience to play volleyball with her. When I went and visited her, I met some of the girls who were there and I felt like I fit in there. I liked the campus. I loved it there and I’m just really excited to be there, and I feel like I’ll be a good fit there.”

Ulery spent all four years on the varsity squad for Southeast, but mainly came in as a sub during her freshman hear. During her career at SHS she had 456 kills, 163 blocks, and 399 digs.

In 2015-16, Ulery was named “Most Inspirational” by her Southeast teammates, as well as Pittsburg Morning Sun All County Volleyball Team, and All-Academic Honorable Mention in Volleyball; and, in 2016-17, she was named “Team MVP” by her teammates, as well as All-CNC Volleyball Team, Pittsburg Morning Sun All-County Volleyball Team, and All-Academic Honorable Mention.

Ulery also received several honors in basketball: 2015-16 All Tournament Team at St Paul Basketball Tournament, All-CNC Basketball Team, and Craw-Kan Southeast Kansas All-Area Team; and, 2016-17 All Tournament Team at St Paul Basketball Tournament, All-CNC Basketball Team, Craw-Kan Southeast Kansas All-Area Team, and Pittsburg Morning Sun All-County Basketball Team.

At the signing ceremony, Ulery was joined by her older brother, Cade, her parents, Joe and Beth Ulery, and Coach White.
