Recipes Needed!
Annabelle Turpen, senior at Southeast High School and a chapter officer in FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America) is collecting recipes to compile a district-wide cookbook as a part of her “Event Management” competitive event (STAR Event) in FCCLA.
Several years ago, the Elementary PTO’s and other organizations from each building in USD 247 had a tradition to compile a cookbook that showcased recipes from students, adults, faculty and staff from across the district’s consolidated communities. The last known book was created in 2006-2007 by the SHS National Honor Society.
Annabelle is planning to create a cookbook for purchase by the Spring 2020. Her goal is to collect at least 200 recipes. Additionally, as part of the FCCLA event, Annabelle will be planning a “Cookbook Showcase” event in the spring, where the cookbooks will not only be available for purchase but we will also invite community members to attend this ticketed event, as a sampling party for people to try out the recipes featured in the book.
Please email any recipes that you would like to submit to this cookbook to southeastfccla247@gmail.com or mail to Janet Holden, FCCLA Advisor, Southeast High School, 126 W. 400 Hwy, Cherokee, KS 66724. Please also encourage any other supporters or alumni of our district to send their recipes in, as well!
On your recipes, please indicate your title or connection to the school/community. (i.e. “Class of 1990, Former Superintendent, Retired teacher, Student, Parent, etc.)
If you have any questions regarding this project please contact Mrs. Holden at jholden@usd247.com.
The deadline to submit recipes is December 1st, 2019.
