Wrestling Results from Southeast Dual
On Tuesday, January 7th, Southeast Lancer Wrestling took on Erie and Humboldt in a double dual at home. Southeast lost both duals, as they were outnumbered against both teams, but in matches they won 6 and only lost 3. Southeast outmatched Humboldt 3-1, then outlasted Erie 3-2 in matches wrestled. Throughout the duals, Eli Pritchett went 1-1, Gage Pierson 1-1, Cullen Mutz 1-1 (1 pin), Cody Gath 2-0 (2 pins), Quintonn Lunsford 2-0 (1 pin, 1 open), Micah Uber (2 pins), Blayn Renn (exhibition) 0-1. The Lancers were aggressive and relentless the whole night, pushing the pace in every match. Juniors Pierson, Gath, and Uber led the way with over 5 years experience each. Sophomores Mutz and Lunsford have both wrestled since 7th grade. Freshman Eli Pritchett is in his 3rd year and has only lost to a returning state qualifier from Erie. Newcomer Blayn Renn stole the show in the final match of the night. Although he lost in the final moments of the 3rd period, he competed the entire match and pushed himself as much as anyone could. He brings a vibrant and positive attitude to the Lancer wrestling team that will help lead the way the rest of the year. In their next meet, Southeast will travel 2 hours north to Burlington, Kansas on Friday, January 17th, for one of their toughest competitions of the year. – Head Coach, Joey Ross
