Meet the New High School ELA Teacher

Please welcome Ronda Ison to the Lancer Family! Mrs. Ison is thrilled to join the staff of Southeast High School.  She is familiar with the district because she did her student teaching with Mrs. Ward at Southeast Junior High in 2016.  Mrs. Ison is coming to SHS from Pittsburg Community Middle School where she has taught 7th grade ELA for the past three years.  She will be teaching Sophomore and Junior English for the 2020-2021 school year.

In Mrs. Ison’s classroom, she tries to create a safe learning environment for all students.  She loves literature, and it is her hope her students will enjoy it as well.  Teaching high school English has been a dream of hers and she is excited to start the school year.

When Mrs. Ison is not at school, she likes to spend time with her husband, children, and their two dogs.  Their time is spent golfing, swimming, watching some favorites on Netflix, and watching sports.  Mrs. Ison loves watching all sports, but especially the Chiefs, Royals, Notre Dame, and KU.  Her favorite show on Netflix is Stranger Things, and she is looking forward to season 4.  Mrs. Ison loves going to the beach, Allen Fieldhouse, and the campus of Notre Dame.  Mrs. Ison and her husband, John, were married at the basilica on the Notre Dame campus in 2001. She also loves to read in her spare time, but Mrs. Ison does not have a lot of spare time.  Her two children are active in sports and she doesn’t like to miss any of their activities.  Nicholas (Junior) and Greta (Sophomore) each play golf and basketball, so there is a chance SHS students could meet them.
