Meet Our New Southeast Staff!

I am Bobbie Powers and I will be teaching MTSS with K-4th grades. Basically, I will be doing targeted intervention for reading and math. I’ve worked in the district for the past four years as a para and love helping the kids.
I attended and graduated from Southeast as did all 4 of my children. I have been married to my husband, Chris, for 30 years. Along with our four kids, we have 7 grandchildren (and possibly four bonus ones). I greatly enjoy spending time with my family and friends and reading a good book whenever I have time.

Hello!!! My name is Debra Leslie, and I am your new special education teacher in the elementary building!! I received my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Pitt State, and have been a special educator for over 20 years. My three “mini-me’s” (grandsons) keep a big smile on my face and laughter in my heart. I’m so happy to be a part of the Lancer Family! I truly feel like I’m finally home.


I am Madison Westervelt and I will be teaching K-6 Music. I’m a recent graduate from PSU with my Bachelors of Music Education where I spent time performing in University Choir, Chorale, Opera Workshop, and Marching Band. In my spare time I love traveling, reading, and spending time with my family. I am looking forward to a great year at Southeast!

Hello! My name is Jennifer Lynch, and I am very excited to join the 4th grade teaching team at Southeast Elementary School this year. I have worked in the district as the elementary inclusion/resource room teacher for the last 12 years. I graduated from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Elementary Education. In addition, I have a Master’s Degree in Special Education. I am fortunate to have come from a family of educators. I am married to a wonderful man named Justin Lynch, and we love to travel. I am looking forward to a new adventure with a great group of teachers and students.

My name is Jordyn Lotterer and I will be teaching Kindergarten at Southeast Elementary! I graduated from Pittsburg State University in the spring and I’m beyond excited to begin my teaching career in USD #247. I can’t wait to share my passion of teaching with my littles and form relationships with them that I will cherish forever. Some of my favorite hobbies are, playing basketball, fishing, going on walks through campus, and enjoying time with my husband along with family and friends.

My name is Chandler Buzard. I have taught the past 17 years at Frontenac High School. I have been married to my wife Megan for 13 years and we have two children Carter, 12, and Beckett, 18 months. I am looking forward to “coming home,” 1999 SHS graduate, to teach mathematics at the high school. In addition to teaching, I also own and operate a farm in the district.

I will be the Business and Transportation Manager for the district. I am a K-State graduate with an MAT in Elementary Education and Technology Education. My previous employment had me working out of our Nation’s Capital for the Corp Of Engineers, where I was a part of the historic Harvey, Irma, Maria response. – Brent Neil

Dorothy has returned home and is dressed in Lancer Blue! I have been in the district for 8 years now and am happy to return in a new job description as a PE teacher. I am most happy to work along side my husband, Mike, who is teaching in the Vo-Ag department. I am a Southeast Alumni and it is very cool to be back in the buildings that I grew up in and that helped shape so much in my childhood! – Laney Lawson

My name is Jeff Renn and I am excited to return to USD #247 as the Vice-Principal and AD for the SHS. I was formerly a principal at Lincoln Central school in Cherryvale, and before that a math teacher for SMS and Columbus.
I have 4 children, all of whom have attended USD 247. My oldest son, Blayn, just graduated from SHS, Sayde is a Junior, Braxtyn is in 7th, and Aspyn is in 3rd. My wife and I are also graduates of this district so I am more than happy to be back home!

I am the mother of four, three daughters and one son. I have grandchildren including 15-month-old twins, and I’m expecting another set of twins in February!! I have been married for 40 years, and I will be teaching Special Education at the middle school. My hobbies include walking, traveling, and spending time with my kids and grandbabies. – Patricia Garrett

This year I will be teaching Vo Ag. I am returning to the district after graduating in 2003. I graduated from Pittsburg State University in 2019 with a degree in Technology and Engineering Education. – Mike Lawson
