2024 Basketball Homecoming
Basketball Homecoming Week descended upon Southeast High School from Feb. 5-9 with energy and enthusiasm felt by both the student body and the staff. The Spirit Day of the week for the students was “Rhyme Without Reason”, while the staff saw high participation on “Teacher/Student Swap” day. So many great outfits were put together that voting for winners each day was a tough call.
To wrap up the end of the school week, Student Council hosted the Homecoming Pep Assembly. Candidates (Queens: Hannah Messer, FR, Macie Herron, SO, Bella Tavernaro, JR, Sierra Applegate, SR; Kings (Seniors): Hayden Galindo, Travis Hallam, Deric Mitchell, Chase Windsor) were introduced, and the king nominees – all senior basketball players – shimmied and danced their way through a catwalk in their best dress, literally. The cheer squad performed their winter routine, nailing a barrel roll (front flip) and numerous other stunts.
Between the varsity girls and boys games, junior Bella Tavernaro and senior Deric Mitchell were crowned King and Queen. Tavernaro received her crown and a pillow created by Colleen Renn, while Mitchell received a basketball created by Melanie Evitts.
